I was relatively unfamiliar with the state park system until my husband was accepted into the Park Ranger Academy at the Mott Training Center at Asilomar, Pacific Grove. Even though now we've had numerous State Park experiences, my favorite was his graduation from the Academy. During the ceremony, I developed so much pride in the state park system. The speeches, mission, and beliefs of the Department show so much concern with preserving our natural resources for us now and for future generations. Our family, like many others will be affected in so many ways if the state parks aren't saved. We just had to pull our daughter out of preschool because with the budget cuts we can no longer afford to pay the tuition.
